The Boucheron Wingback Chair
Salvaged from the spa town of Bath, this classic wingback is a rare and quite unusual Parker Knoll chair, dating from the 1950’s or 60’s. With a wide back and full-depth arms, the chair is more generously proportioned than its contemporary, the more well known Penthurst chair.
The chair was stripped back to its frame and the original perished foam discarded. Depth of stuffing was built up using a combination of reconstituted foam, needlefelt and cotton wadding under a final layer of new foam. A woollen interliner was introduced to meet current fire regulations. The top cover is a 100% cotton fabric remnant in a design called Boucheron. The fabric was both designed and manufactured in the UK by the former Crowson fabric house.
