The Morris Reclining Chair

Probably dating to the early twentieth century this Morris Reclining Chair is made of English oak. Sadly, the frame alone survived into the twenty-first century, the cushions having been lost or discarded over time.

The chair frame was cleaned and oiled before new webbing was stretched across the base to support seating springs. Salvaged springs from another chair were used to develop the sprung platform that supports the seat cushion. New foam was used to create both the seat and back cushions which were encased in fire retardant wadding and stockinette. The top cover is a 100% linen fabric by Prestigious Textiles in a design called Arc Bumble.
